The house

4 bedrooms, 2 baths, sleeps 8.

Everything you need to know before you book — rooms, beds, what’s in the kitchen, and the handful of rules we ask you to keep.

Valley House seen from the driveway

A real house, not a staged one

Valley House sits on 3 acres off Valley Road, set back from the road with trees on three sides. It was built as a year-round family home, and it still has the things that implies: a proper mudroom, a woodstove that heats the whole downstairs, and closets you can actually put things in.

Downstairs is open — kitchen, dining table that seats 8, and a living room around the stove. The screened porch runs off the back. Bedrooms are upstairs, away from the noise.

It is not a luxury rental and we don’t pretend otherwise. It’s clean, warm, well-equipped, and quiet in a way that’s hard to find within two hours of Boston.

Arriving & leaving

Check-in & check-out

  • Check-in After 4:00 pm
  • Check-out By 10:00 am
  • Entry Lockbox code
  • Minimum stay 2 nights

We send the door code and driving notes a few days before you arrive. Cell service is patchy on the last stretch of road, so download your directions before you leave the highway — this catches people out every single time.

Booked direct and need an early check-in or a late departure? Ask us. If nobody’s in the house either side of you, the answer is usually yes.

House rules

The short list

  • The basement and locked closets are off limits and are covered by security cameras. Nothing points at any space you’ll be using — we’d rather tell you now than have you wonder.
  • No smoking anywhere inside, including the porch.
  • No pets, sorry. The land behind the house is a protected wildlife area with strict rules about domestic animals — it’s not our rule to bend.
  • No parties or events. This is a quiet road and we intend to keep our neighbours.
  • Quiet after 10 pm, outside especially. Sound travels further than you’d think here.
  • Fires out before bed. Woodstove and fire pit both — there’s a bucket by the pit.
  • Maximum 8 guests. Day visitors are fine; overnight guests beyond the booking aren’t.
  • Take your rubbish with you or use the bins in the shed. Bears are real here and they are not shy.
